Why three-monthly follow-up is not enough

Diabetes does not wait ninety days. Sugars drift, doses stop matching the diet, and small problems, a new fatigue, a numb foot, an infection that will not heal, go unmentioned until the next appointment. By then the HbA1c has already recorded three months of damage.

Our program shortens that loop to a week. Your care coach checks in every week. Your physician reviews your numbers every month and adjusts treatment on what your data shows rather than on what it did last quarter.

What the program covers

A detailed initial consultation including your full medication list and lab history. Monthly review of HbA1c, weight and blood pressure. Diet planning built around your household's cooking, not a generic chart. Screening for the complications that actually cause harm: kidney, eye, foot and nerve. Review of cardiovascular risk, because most people with diabetes are ultimately harmed by their arteries rather than their sugars. Weekly coach calls, and WhatsApp access for the question that comes up between reviews.

Common questions

What patients ask us

Can type 2 diabetes be reversed?

Many people with type 2 diabetes can reach normal blood sugars without medication, particularly within the first few years of diagnosis and with meaningful weight loss. Doctors prefer the word remission to reversal, because the underlying tendency remains and the result has to be maintained. It is a realistic goal for some patients and not for others, and the honest answer depends on your duration of diabetes, your beta-cell reserve and your starting weight.

How quickly can HbA1c come down?

HbA1c reflects roughly three months of blood sugar, so meaningful change shows over eight to twelve weeks. One of our patients moved from 14 to 8 over six months. Your own trajectory depends on where you start, which medicines you are on and how much of the plan you are able to hold.

Do I have to give up rice?

No, and a plan that begins by banning rice usually fails in an Indian kitchen. What matters more is portion, what you eat alongside it, the order in which you eat, and what the rest of the day looks like. We build the plan around the food your household actually cooks.

Can I get my diabetes prescription online?

Yes, where clinically appropriate. Under the NMC Telemedicine Practice Guidelines a registered medical practitioner may prescribe for chronic conditions after an adequate consultation. Dr. Sowmya will review your labs and current medicines before prescribing or adjusting anything.

What tests will I need?

Typically HbA1c, a fasting lipid profile, kidney function with urine albumin, liver function and a vitamin B12 level if you are on metformin, plus an annual retina check and foot examination. We tell you exactly what to get and read the results with you.
